What parents ask us first
- Who looks after the boys at night?
- Ten adults are on campus every night, and the boarding staff are on call until morning.
- How many boys share a room?
- The boys sleep in one large dormitory, divided by form: Forms 1 and 2 on one side, Form 3 in the middle and Form 4 on the other. Each boy has his own bed, locker and table.
- What do they eat?
- Three meals a day, cooked in the school kitchen. All food is halal and the menu changes every week.
- How does prayer fit into the day?
- The five daily prayers are prayed together, at about 5:00, 13:00, 16:00, 18:30 and 21:00. Lessons and prep are planned around them.
- Can we speak to our son?
- Phones are kept by the boarding staff, and a boy can call home on the boarding house phone between activities whenever he asks. You can reach the boarding office on WhatsApp at any time.
- What happens if he is ill?
- A trained first aider looks after boys in the first-aid room. For anything serious we take him to Maryam Hospital, two minutes away, and call you straight away.
A school day at Olgun
The same rhythm every weekday, so boys know what comes next and parents know where they are.
- 05:00 Wake up and dawn prayer, then breakfast
- 07:30 Morning lessons
- 13:00 Lunch and midday prayer
- 14:00 Afternoon lessons
- 16:00 Afternoon prayer, then sport and free time
- 18:30 Sunset prayer and supper, then evening prep supervised by teachers
- 21:00 Night prayer
- 21:30 Lights out
Prayer times follow the sun, so the day moves a little through the year.
